How to Respond to a Lash Retention Complaint Review

This is an illustrative review scenario, not an actual customer review. Adapt the reply to the facts of your situation and replace the example names and phone numbers before posting.

A lash-extension client expected weeks of wear and reports gaps within days. Your reply should acknowledge that expectation without turning into an aftercare interrogation. The appointment record and a private discussion are more useful than assuming that the client slept on their face or used the wrong cleanser.

The review

Had a full lash set Thursday and by Monday there were gaps on one side. I followed the instructions I was given. When I asked about it, the first answer was that I must have used oily products. I felt blamed before anyone looked. — 1 star

Gaps within a few days are not the wear experience you expected, and I hear why the first answer felt like blame. I'd like to review the appointment and aftercare guidance with our lash lead, then hear what you've noticed directly. Please contact me at (555) 123-4567 so we can arrange a private review and discuss the next step. I'm Tessa, the owner.

Why this works

  • It names the timing. Monday after a Thursday set is the specific reason the client questions retention. The response acknowledges that without guaranteeing a lifespan.
  • It pauses the aftercare assumption. The salon can ask relevant questions later while recognizing that the first reply made the customer defensive.
  • It uses the right service lead. A lash lead can review the fitting and guidance. Sending the client to a generic inbox would repeat the unhelpful handoff.

What not to do

  • Don't tell the client they caused the gaps. Assess relevant appointment and aftercare information privately rather than announcing an assumption.
  • Don't guarantee a replacement set will last. Discuss realistic options after review, without a public service promise.
  • Don't give advice for eye symptoms in a review. If the client raises a health concern, route it appropriately and privately; do not diagnose or prescribe.

Frequently asked questions

Should I ask about aftercare in the public reply?

Save specific questions for a respectful private conversation. The response can offer to review the guidance without suggesting the client failed to follow it.

How much retention can I promise in the response?

Do not promise a fixed wear period or corrective result. Review the appointment and concerns before discussing appropriate options directly.

What if the complaint includes discomfort rather than just gaps?

Take it seriously and arrange appropriate private contact. Do not assess eye symptoms or suggest products or treatment through a public review reply.
